For PFW, Sam Mcknight debuted an intriguing collection for Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler. Dubbed "Recycled Chic", Mcknight took recyclable items found at shows, pairing these with grungy and punk vibes with Westwood's ever glamorous designs.
The mismatched designs strutting down the runway from Westwood and Kronthaler complimented Mcknight's models' bright hairstyles and make-up perfectly. Using a mixture of both curl, frizz and braiding, texture was added to each model's hair using the Babyliss PRO Italia Brava.
In collaboration with ghd session stylist Guido Palau, Alexander Wang debuted his Spring/Summer 2018 collection at NYFW. Featuring a variety of laid back styles for the runway, Wang kept to his staple understated creativity. Wang decided to embrace the natural texture of hair, and debut a collection that played on the natural “lived in” look of hair with his models. To create his collection, Guido used ghd’s most versatile tools within their range, the ghd Air Dryer and the Classic Curl Tong on their lowest heat settings.
We love the natural and effortless looking texture of the hair created with this look, and with winter creeping ever closer we are prone to wanting to use more and more heat based products on our hair to keep those fly-aways at bay. Why not take a leaf out of Guido’s book, trying lower heat settings on your tools, and even go as far as embracing your hairs’ natural texture?
Balmain Hair Couture & Sam Mcknight PFW 17/18
Balmain Hair Couture and Sam Mcknight collaborated at PFW to create stunning braided looks on the runway to celebrate the launch of Balmain’s Autumn/Winter collection for 2017/18. The collection featured an array of sleek and intricate braids finished off with glossy tresses cascading down the models’ backs.
Braids have started to take on more of a prominent look on many of our fashion runways, inspiring a whole collection of designers, hairdressers and women to try out these looks. Perfect for the colder weather to protect hair from the elements, plaits and braids will always have a place within the hair and fashion industry. Whether you are looking to go for an edgier overall look, or laid back with big and small braids in a boho style.
