French, Dutch, Halo, Waterfall, Fishtail...
With a new season in full swing and the ‘Beast from the East’ finally settled away, now is the time to look forward to the Spring and Summer fashion for 2018 and one of our favourite hairstyles, plaits! Hair braiding or plaiting can open the doors to a plethora of styles that can be worn dressed up, or down.
No matter your face shape or style, there is a plait for everyone to embrace! With over 40 styles to try out, whether you’re looking to try out all over plaits, halo braids in a fancy up-do, dutch or fishtail there’s inspiration to be found from all your favourite celebrities and stylists.
Take a look below at some of our favourite braided hairstyles from our stylists’ at Samuel David Eco Salon, and at our go-to products from Davines to keep your hair braids looking sleek and protected.
Plaits are a perfect and trendy alternative to keeping your hair out of your face when it’s annoying you, and can also help reduce the amount of breakage and tangles your hair can go through when throwing it up into a bun.
Famously worn all over the festival season when hair wash days are a no-no, they can also be worn effortlessly dressed up with halo braids or even with hair separated into a half up, half down style (left image) giving a more elegant finish.
One of our favourite looks comes from Ariana Grande who wore a plaited pony style with added hair accessories at the One Love Manchester show (image bottom right) recreated on client Charlotte. To recreate Ariana’s style, the hair was plaited close to the hair in a 3 small dutch braids, with hair hoops added to finish the overall look.
Another of our favourite looks comes from client Kia created by stylist Charlene in the salon, who styled a gorgeous Game of Thrones look, a la Daenerys Targaryen with an intricate up-do consisting of 3-4 plaits, placed delicately around Kia’s head (image bottom left). This look was also featured in the top 40 Best UK Wedding Hairstyles OF 2017 by GoHen, to view the full look click here!
Davines’ artistic director Angelo Seminara is always giving us braid envy with his intricate and far out hairstyles. Coupled with imprinter hair colouring, Seminara debuted this gorgeous look on his instagram page for Hair Tribe TV!
